Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator
As a senior member of CARE Pakistan, the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator (EPC) plays a leading role in ensuring that CARE and its partners are able to respond to disasters in a timely and appropriate manner. In doing so the EPC manages the implementation of CARE’s Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Risk Reduction projects, as well as coordinates the development of strategic emergency partnerships to support CARE’s overall capacity to respond to disasters in Pakistan. The EPC works closely with Program, Program Development and Program Support Units of the Country Office to ensure that emergency preparedness is integrated in all aspects of CARE’s work in Pakistan. The incumbent will help in fostering and sustaining partnerships around the CO’s strategic programming areas with a focus on reducing vulnerability and strengthening resilience of marginalized women to disasters as a part of and cross cutting area for long-term development work. Under the supervision of Director Program the EPC will lead the development and implementation of the Emergency Preparedness Plan, lead the mainstreaming of Disaster Risk Reduction (throughout CARE’s programming), as well as lead CARE’s Type 1 emergency responses in Pakistan as and when required. In doing so, the EPC will ensure accountability to CARE’s humanitarian principles and emergency management protocols.
• A Master degree or equivalent professional qualification in Disaster Risk /Disaster Management related discipline, development studies OR Social Sciences.
• Minimum of five years senior level experience in DRR and/or Emergency Preparedness project with international organization.
• Experience in working with implementing partners, communities and capacity building.
