2011 Celebrities Showbiz at Fashion Week Winter Spring/Summer 2011
The biggest fashion capitals in the world hosted the most important fashion events meant to establish the new trends for Spring/Summer 2011. Fashion Week in Milan, Paris, London, or New York is not only a meeting place for some of the most talented fashion designers, but also a great event that manages to bring out big names every single year. Take a look to the main Fashion Week events and draw your inspiration from your favorite celebrity style.
Fashion week is an event that allows fashion designers or "houses" to display their latest collections in runway show. This year too, Fashion Week in Milan, New York, Paris, and London presented the spring/summer 2011 fashion collections.
Fashion icon and fashion regular Alexa Chung attended the Miu Miu Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2011 show during Paris Fashion Week on October 6, 2010 in Paris, France showing a girly style with a check dress with white collar and cuffs. At the Valentino Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2011 show during Paris Fashion Week, Alexa worn a black dress, while stylist Caroline Sieber was spotted in a modified Valentino fall 2010 couture dress and Valentino fall 2010 shoes.
At the Carlos Miele Spring 2011 fashion show, in New York City, Olivia Palermo worn a beautiful blue graphic cardigan, a summer dress, suede boots, and a CC Skye handbag. Clémence Poésy is a French fashion model and actress that appeared in the successful "Harry Potter" franchise. She was seen at the Chanel Spring 2011 show in Paris looking great in a white blouse and a black skirt.
Chanel Spring 2011 Fashion show managed to bring together so many celebrities, such as Claudia Schiffer, Keira Knightley, Alexa Chung, Rachel Bilson, Clémence Poésy, or Lily Allen. Keira Knightley showed off her new bob haircut, wearing a sweet tweed dress and a black blazer. Rachel Bilson worn a colorful dress adding a rock touch with a leather jacket and high-heeled sandals.
Alexis Bledel looked extremely beautiful at the Monique Lhuillier Spring 2011 runway show in a ruffle one shoulder, knee length dress matched with chunky black shoes and a black satin clutch. Moreover, she debuted her new hair color. Leighton Meester looked great at Derek Lam Spring 2011 runway show in NYC. The "Gossip Girl" star worn a white boatneck cotton pullover, scrunched socks, and black ankle boots.
It is said that the blazer should be a must-have in everyone's wardrobe. It is versatile and you can wear it with a pair of jeans, but also with sweet, romantic dresses. Whether you are looking for a more casual outfit or a red carpet one, a blazer can become a real lifesaver. It seems that celebrities share this opinion too, as many of them were spotted at different fashion events mixing casual and glamour. For example, Megan Fox matched her blazer with sexy animal printed Louboutin platform shoes for the Emporio Armani show. Also, Jessica Szohr was spotted at the Jill Stuart Spring 2011 show wearing a very trendy outfit with mini skirt, a basic white tee, a blazer, and peep toed sandals.
Sarah Jessica Parker looked glam at the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011 runway show. The “Sex and the City” star worn a Burberry leather coat with lace-up sandals, and a pink Alexander McQueen purse. Kate Moss attended the Christian Dior Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2011 show during Paris Fashion Week at Espace Ephemere Tuileries wearing an all-black outfit with a leather pencil skirt, a fur coat, and Mary Jane stilettos.
Besides these colors, a spirit of freshness and minimalism was present through two main colors: white and nude. Numerous designers based their collections on immaculate looks. Nude could be seen at Narciso Rodriguez and Hervé Ledger, while white at Diane Von Furstenberg, Lacoste, or Tommy Hilfiger. A more bucolic feeling could be spotted at Dolce & Gabbana, where white embroidered and lacy dresses seem to announce one of the most romantic seasons ever.
Next spring, it is time to invest in a classic, simple white shirt. Of course, if you haven't done it yet. This was the star item on many fashion shows at New York Fashion Week, presented in so many different styles and versions. For example, at DKNY the white shirt was the main piece of the collection, at Michael Kors it had a casual touch, and a more stylish one at Derek Lam, while at Carolina Herrera it was super chic.
This next trend is for all retro lovers. For spring/summer 2011 get ready to rock the new '70s-inspired fashion style. Marc Jacobs and Elie Tahari are two of the many fashion designers that found their inspiration in the '70s fashion. At Marc Jacobs, the '70s dresses have amazing ink, sapphire, or emerald colors. If you had enough of the skinny domination, you should know that it will soon be over as spring 2011 brings the high-waisted flare jeans (Derek Lam), '70s style, back into the spotlight.
“Maxi” is a key element when describing spring/summer 2011 dresses and jumpsuits. Ports 1961 recommended these items made from sumptuous fabrics in different shades of blue, emerald green, tropical coral, dusty pink, or champagne. We totally loved the jumpsuit trend this summer. Well, there is no surprise we find it for spring 2011 among the hottest fashionable pieces. Jumpsuits come in so many different versions from very chic at Derek Lam to casual, flower printed at Marc by Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Taylor.
chilly-weather style staples that are easy to throw on for an effortlessly chic look. Unfortunately caring for these fashion investments can be high-maintenance, especially considering the potential for shrinking, fading, and warping. Here are five tips for keeping your sweaters looking like new for many seasons to come.
1. Fold, never hang your sweaters.
Gravity is not a friend to sweaters as it can pull apart the fibers and alter the shape of your knits over time. Hangers and hooks can especially misshape the sleeves, shoulders, and necklines. Fold your sweaters and store them in wood, canvas, or cardboard containers so they have access to air but not moths. This way you’ll be able to preserve their shape and fresh smell with fewer washes.
Shop this year’s coziest and most fashionable knits.
2. Take a de-piller to the fabric regularly.
Nothing takes a sweater from chic to shabby like the appearance of “pills,” or tiny fabric balls, that collect on the garment due to friction. Fortunately they can easily be removed by hand or by using an electric shaver or sweater stone, which basically exfoliates the fabric, making it appear smooth and new again. Don’t have any of those? Try a hairbrush (carefully) or a comb!
3. Protect your sweaters from moths.
Moths love to eat wool, the primary material in most sweaters. Luckily, the aroma of cedar is a natural, sweet-smelling deterrent. To prevent these pests from making meals out of your clothes, line your storage areas with cedar wood or throw cedar balls in your drawers.
Check out ideas for getting organized and maximizing space.
4. Never wait to do repairs.
Once a button comes loose or a small tear appears in your woven fabric, the garment is at risk of unraveling, or at least for the hole becoming unmanageably large. Most sweaters come with extra thread for minor repairs, so be sure to patch any holes as soon as possible.
5. Clean infrequently and with care.
Much like denim, sweaters should not be washed after every wear if you want to keep them looking straight-from-the-store new for longer. To keep your sweater from requiring frequent cleanings, wear a cotton shirt underneath it so your body oils don’t come in direct contact with the garment. Also, some newer washing machine models have settings for wool and delicates, which are gentle enough for the woven fibers of your sweater. But in order to be absolutely sure you won’t shrink or damage your favorite piece, it’s always better to hand wash it or take it to a dry cleaner. To wash by hand, fill the sink with cold water (hot or warm water increases the potential for shrinkage), add a small amount of detergent formulated for delicates, and let the sweater soak. If you need to remove stains, gently rub the sweater against itself until the stain dissolves. When drying, never hang the sweater. Instead lay it on a towel and change its position frequently to ensure it dries evenly.
