MANAGING DIRECTOR APPC
Applications are invited against the senior position of Managing Director, Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation (APPC), Islamabad on two years contractual employment in MP-II Scale (in terms of Finance Division O.M. No.F.3(2)R-4/2011, dated 24-12-2012 which is accessible on Finance Division’s website).
APPC is a premier national news agency of Pakistan which works under the administrative control of concerned ministry.
The eligibility criterion is as follows:
a) A degree in Social Sciences preferably in Mass Communication/Journalism from HEC recognized University in Pakistan OR equivalent degrees from renowned foreign institutions. Additional degree in MBA/MPA/Law will be considered as an additional qualification. (Degrees shall be got verified from HEC).
b) Age: 50-62 years
c) Experience: 15 years of experience of management position in GoP organizations especially in the fields of management/administration/financial management/ marketing and ten years of which should be as editor of a reputed national Daily Newspaper/Media outfit etc.
d) To be able to carry out all or any of the activities in line with APPC 0rdinance-2002, which narrates the responsibilities of news gathering and its dissemination through print, cyber net, audio, video, still and any other methods of photography required for this purpose, carry out instructions of the Federal Government with regard to general pattern of policies in respect of announcements, news and views to be disseminated from time to time, Sign agreements with international news agencies, national news agencies of other countries for securing and disseminating the same to end-users in and outside Pakistan.
e) Should be knowledgeableabout GoP Media Management and Governance Frameworkas per Lawand Rules. Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility includes but not limited to lead, drive and motivate APPC to achieve professional excellence in the fields of news gathering and its dissemination. Continuously evaluate the state of talent vs. business needs: ensure that right skills and behaviors are in place to cultivate and engage high-performing team, implement talent upgradation when necessary. To interact with GOP Organizations, apply PPRA-rules and Planning Commission’s guidelines with regard to regulating public sector development schemes in GOP Corporations. Able to improve existing news services in English, Urdu, Sindhi, Pashto Arabic, Saraiki / Balochi and Brahvi languages and to add new businesses.
