The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) owns and operates the high voltage transmission system in the country. The company employs a staff of over nine thousand that is engaged in managing the transmission network that extends into all the provinces of the country and the AJK.
Consistent with the objectives of the government to reform the power sector and to eliminate load shedding in the shortest possible time frame, the Board of Directors of the company has initiated action plans to transform the company into a dynamic corporate entity that can meet the emerging challenges in the power sector of the country. These include improving system reliability, extending the network to acquire power from new generation and to import power from neighboring countries, and instituting a range of reforms in all the functional areas of the company. Specific initiatives in hand include preparation of strategic business plans, rationalization of organizational structures, introduction of performance based compensation, system performance audits, and integration of ERP systems in operations.
The Managing Director will report to the Board of Directors and will work with the Board to transform the company into a dynamic entity that can support the growth of power market in the country and can deliver value to its shareholders and customers. In addition to management of operations, the Managing Director will be responsible for development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives to achieve the performance targets set by the government and the Board. The ideal candidate would have experience of twenty years in the industry at senior levels successfully leading operations in large corporations, delivering services in a competitive environment, and maintaining growth with efficient use of financial and human resources. Familiarity with the power transmission and distribution systems will be considered an asset. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership skills in motivating the senior management to own and actively participate in change management.
The candidate should not be more than 60 years of age on the date of this advertisement. A degree in engineering, business management, or a professional certification in accounting would be desirable.
