CSS Competitive Examination
The written portion of CSS Competitive Examination, 2000 was held in November
2000. Out of 7759 candidates, who applied, only 4669 candidates appeared and 960
candidates qualified in the written Examination. After Viva Voce, 900 candidates were
declared finally qualified but only 206 candidates were recommended for appointment
against the vacancies reserved for the Merit and Provincial/Regional quotas in different
Occupational Groups/Services, as provided by the Establishment Division.
As many as 148 seats have been recommended for final
allocation to the Federal Public Service Commission by different ministries
through the establishment division, well-placed sources in the FPSC told
Dawnon Tuesday. "Out of more than 8,000 candidates, who took their written
examination, 961 candidates qualified for the interview, implying that 816
candidates will not be able to get a job even if they pass their
interviews", an official said.
As much as 100 per cent increase was recorded in the number of candidates,
who appeared in the CSS-2000 examination due to reduction in the upper-age
limit. The decision to reduce the upper-age limit from 30 to 28 years was
taken last year, but it is to be implemented for candidates appearing in the

service of Pakistan (PSP) had been 60, but this year the number of the seats
sanctioned by the interior ministry were just 14. Interestingly, according
to the devolution plan, assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) would be
posted as SHOs, but the number of seats given to the PSP told a different
story, they added.
The district management group (DMG), which used to be the most wanted group
in the civil services, has now lost its charm due to the devolution plan.
The number of seats reserved for the DMG are 11. According to the sources,
the distribution of seats to different groups are: accounts group, 26 seats;
customs, 20 seats; foreign services group, nine seats; income tax group, 41
seats; information services group, 10 seats; postal services, eight seats,
and seats reserved for the Railways are nine.
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has announced the results of the competitive examination 2002, in which 476 candidates were declared pass out of 2,769 with a pass percentage of 17.19.
An FPSC announcement said that the candidates had qualified the written exams for recruitment to posts in BPS-17 by securing 40 per cent marks in the compulsory subjects and 50 per cent marks in the aggregate.
Out of the 476 successful candidates, 92 were women, 308from Punjab, followed by Sindh (rural) 21, Sindh (urban) 18, NWFP 82, Northern Areas and Fata 28, Balochistan 10 and AJK 8. The domicile of one candidate did not mention the province.
The candidates who have already been allocated groups/services on the basis of a previous competitive examination will not be required to take the psychological test afresh in case they have qualify the written portion of the examination

, Jan 17: Only 327 candidates out of 3, 455 have passed the competitive examination-2004 and the pass percentage was 9.46 per cent, says a notification of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).
The FPSC Monday announced the written portion results of the competitive examination for the recruitment to the posts in BPS-17 under federal government. According to the FPSC notification, a total of 5,731 candidates had applied and 3,455 candidates appeared in the examination.
The place and schedule of medical, psychological and viva voce tests will be intimated to all the candidates passed the written examination in due course of time. The Federal Public Service Commission said the selection of candidates who have not so far fulfilled all the requirements will remain provisional till they are found eligible in all respects.
Candidates who have not yet received their degrees/certificates have been asked to obtain provisional certificates from their universities concerned duly signed by the controller/assistant controller of examinations and submit attested copies thereof to the commission immediately.
