Vice Chancellor PIDE
Planning Commission is seeking to appoint Members for strengthening and building capacity of the Commission and invites applications

Qualification of Members
■ Minimum Masters Degree preferably PhD in the relevant field from nationally/ internationally reputed/HEC recognized university
■ Internationally recognized publications/policy papers in the relevant field preferred
■ Minimum 15 years distinguished professional career at national/international level including 5-10 years of managerial experience at policy making level in the relevant field and having the expertise to lead/advise the planning process.
Planning Commission is seeking to appoint a Chief Economist on highly competitive salary and benefits (MP-I Scale): for strengthening and building capacity of the commission, and invites applications from professionals/experts meeting the following criteria.
PhD Degree in Economics or equivalent, at least 25 years of solid experience in managing
research programs with around 10 years in a policy-related managerial position.
Possesses a track record of research in Pakistan in national/international research journals.
Research work on emerging economies would be an added advantage.
Recognized locally and preferably internationally as a respected authority in high level policy
and / or research work related to development economics, impacting operational strategy,
policy and program development.
Considered to have substantial influence in one or more areas of development economics, and has experience in sensitive consultations and negotiations at the highest policy levels-notably ability to work with senior government officials to resolve complex economic problems and provide policy advice at the national level.
Respected by peers and preferably the larger international community for grasp of cross sector issues and their implications.
Ability to use techniques that enables and promote the dissemination and transfer of knowledge and best practice- notably ability to translate complex economic research into clear yet rigorous messages.
Identifies and evaluates emerging opportunities aligned with government priorities, and challenges others to remove barriers and deliver beyond expectations. Provides leadership and mentoring to technical teams; supporting collaboration and working across boundaries, and ensuring diverse talent and capability is mobilized across the organization.
Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) is Pakistan’s leading research and teaching institution in economics and other related social sciences. Established in 1957 as an autonomous research organization, the Institute was granted charter as degree awarding and specialized research institution in 2010.The PIDE is successfully running PhD, M.Phil and MSc. programs in all areas of Economics, Business, Public Policy and related fields.
The PIDE is seeking to appoint Vice Chancellor having the vision, skills, innovative thinking and leadership qualities to provide direction to become a globally renowned island of excellence in research and education. The Vice Chancellor will be responsible for all administrative and academic functions at the institute.
The desired candidate must possess PhD degree in Economics along with an outstanding record of leadership in academic or research organizations. S/he should have at least fifteen years of research/teaching experience with excellent interpersonal and networking skills at the national and international level.
An attractive salary package will be offered. The duration of appointment is normally 5 years.
