Vacancy Announcement:

IUCN Pakistan assists the federal, provincial and district governments, as well as civil society organizations, the private sector and other stakeholders in promoting conservation of natural resources and sustainable development. We are searching for self-motivated professionals who have a proven track record of meeting challenges through proactive approaches, for the following positions:

Project Lead, Pcase Project – (Islamabad Based):
Under the overall supervision of Country Representative, the incumbent will be responsible for providing overall support in the management of the PCASE (Pakistan Centres for Advanced Studies in Energy) Project with Arizona State University, funded by USAID.
The incumbent will also be responsible for developing, managing and providing guidance on Environment and Energy aspects of lUCN’s Programme sub-group. He/She will be expected to demonstrate conceptual leadership and direction, as well as develop and manage the climate change, water and energy programmes in collaboration with the other organizational components of IUCNP.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
– The incumbent should have a Master’s degree in energy/environment, management sciences., engineering, social science or other relevant disciplines.
– At least fifteen years of relevant experience with an international organization, preferably in development of projects and programme management in the development sector, with the ability to lead a team.
– Demonstrated experience in applying Results Based Management tools in managing complex donor-funded projects or projects under the National/Provincial Governments.
– Expertise in project formulation and implementation will be an added advantage.
Duration: One year from the date of appointment, and extendable.

Component Manager Pakistan (CM) – (Islamabad Based):
The objective of the project Pakistan Sustainable Transport Project (PAKSTRAN) is to reduce the growth in energy consumption and related greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector in Pakistan, while simultaneously improving urban environmental conditions and improving Pakistan’s trade competitiveness by: 1) creating an enabling investment environment for sustainable urban transport; 2) creating an institutional and policy framework that is supportive of urban transit development; 3) improving the fuel efficiency of trucking freight transport; and 4) increasing awareness and capacity in Pakistan on sustainable transport.
The incumbent will be responsible for implementation of the Outcome 4 (Increased public awareness and institutional capacity on sustainable transport concept) of PAKSTRAN Project, as well as assistance in mobilizing all component inputs, supervision of Component Implementation Unit (CIU) staff, consultants and oversight of sub-contractors. The CM will be the leader of the Component Team (CT). The CM shall liaise with the Project Management Unit (PMU), the government, UNDP, and relevant stakeholders for the specific component. The CM will work under the supervision and guidance of the Component Director with additional reporting line to the National Project Manager (NPM).

Qualifications & Skills Required:
– The incumbent should have a Master’s degree in energy/environment, management sciences, engineering, social science or other relevant disciplines such as climate change.
– At least ten years relevant experience, preferably in development of projects and programme management,
– Demonstrated experience in applying Results Based Management tools in managing complex donor funded projects or projects under the National/Provincial Governments.

Research Officer Pakistan – (Islamabad Based):
Under the guidance of the Component Manager PAKSTRAN the Research Officer will be responsible for the successful delivery of the entire awareness raising, advocacy and outreach related objectives of the PAKSTRAN project as per the approved work plan. Specific responsibilities will include technical support and guidance on advocacy related work and increased public awareness and institutional capacity on sustainable transport concept.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
– The incumbent should have a Master’s degree or higher in mass media / communications.
– At least five years professional experience, preferably with international organization or media agency.
– Demonstrated experience in event management, the use of media tools and professional skills in designing.

Admin & Finance Assistant Pakistan – (Islamabad Based):
Under the overall supervision of Component Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for undertaking all Admin & Finance related work of the Component Implementation Unit (CIU).

Qualifications & Skills Required:
– The incumbent should have a Bachelor s degree in Commerce.
– At least five to seven years experience in administration and financial management with an international organization, preferably in the development sector.
– The candidate must have knowledge of computers, MS Excel, including basic hardware maintenance and use of latest accounting software.
– Expertise in project formulation and implementation will be an added advantage.
– For all the above positions the candidates must be fluent in both written and spoken English with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work as a team and willing to travel for programme/project activities.
Duration: Two years from the date of appointment for all PAKSTRAN positions, and extendable.
